On August 21st, the 16,000-TEU ultra-large container vessel "Nantong Kawasaki 425," fully independently developed, designed, and built by Nantong COSCO-Kawasaki Shipbuilding Engineering Co., Ltd., smoothly set sail from the Jiangsu section of the Yangtze River under the full escort of the Nantong maritime authorities, embarking on its first trial voyage. This action marks another significant breakthrough in China's shipbuilding industry in the fields of high-endization and intelligence.
The vessel has a total length of 366.99 meters, a beam of 51 meters, a deadweight tonnage of about 160,000 tons, and can transport up to 16,828 standard container boxes, making it one of the largest container ships that can navigate the new locks of the Panama Canal. The vessel integrates a number of cutting-edge energy-saving technologies, and its single-container energy consumption index has reached the international leading level, significantly enhancing China's competitiveness in the global design and construction of large green ships.
